As a licensed mariner who sailed aboard U.S. merchant vessels for a decade, Klaus Luhta has traveled around the world by ship. Coming ashore to study and practice law, Klaus now serves as an elected official at the International Organization of Masters, Mates, & Pilots, advocating for his seafaring constituents in contract negotiations, before Congress, and at the International Maritime Organization in London. His spare time is devoted to his wife and three small children along with entrepreneurial ventures. Klaus serves as the current Chairman for the Captain Phillips and Lane Kirkland Maritime Trust Foundation.
